Gippsland farmer markets to check out this April school holidays

We compiled a list of art, craft and farmer markets on in Gippsland this weekend to entertain the whole family as the Victoria school holidays kick off.

We’ve created a list of a handful of markets on this weekend in Gippsland to keep the whole family jolly and entertained.

"Make it, bake it, sew it, grow it" is the motto behind the Trafalgar Markets. The morning markets include a diverse range of locally produced and hand crafted goods. Families can explore a wide variety of stalls that offer vegetables, bread, cheeses, meats and handcrafted knick-knacks.

Where: McGregor Park in Trafalgar

When: The first Saturday of every month, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Next Market: Saturday April 5.

Saffron stall at Koonwarra Farmers Market, stocking fresh saffron tea and oil.

Held in the rural village of Koonwarra, this community event showcases local produce. It was founded in 2000 by a not-for-profit association of the region's growers, producers and specialty food makers. Dogs welcome on a lead.

When: First Saturday of each month, 8am-1pm.

Next market: April 5.

Where: Koonwarra Memorial Park, Koonwarra.

Logan's Micro Distillery selling their spirits which are made from 100% natural ingredients on the Tambo River in East Gippsland.

“How would you want to miss the chance of obtaining a variety of fresh apples and rhubarb or pure honey or fudge or ice cream and berries?” ask the organisers.

Produce includes lamb (and lamb sausages), smoked meats, venison, Dargo walnuts, goats milk and cheeses, pasta, jams, sauces, chutneys and eggs.”

When: First Saturday of every month, 8am-12pm.

Next market: April 5.

Where: Howitt Park Bowls Club, McEacharn St, East Bairnsdale.

Held on Bunurong land, this market sells retro items, collectables and vintage wares. There is always food and live music.

When: Every Sunday 10am-2pm.

Next market: April 6.

Location: The Kongwak General Store and Sheds on the main street.
