Weekend adventures: Doughnuts and crochet at Kongwak market

The market hosts plenty of sellers that offer everything from plants, retro clothing, pre-loved books, records, a bakery and multiple cafes.

Kongwak market runs every Sunday on the town’s main drag at the general store and sheds. There are plenty of stalls selling a wide variety of retro clothing, pre-loved books, antiques, vinyl, hand crafted hats, bags and jumpers and a whole lot more.

There are two cafes and a bakery operating, and don’t forget to grab a cinnamon treat from Fish Creek Donuts.

Karen runs a stall where she sells fabric and her mother’s hand-knitted crochet toys and clothing.

“She’s been crocheting since she was eight years old, she’s 80 now,” Karen told the Monitor, whose mother can crochet a jacket in a couple of days “if she doesn’t fall asleep.”
